Therapeutic Massage

Massage therapy is one of the oldest forms of natural healing with some of its first records dating back thousands of years to Ancient China and Egypt.  It is documented in many ancient texts as a beneficial form of treatment including The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine, a standard text used by most schools of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Massage therapy has been found to reduce inflammation, improve recovery time from injury, boost sleep quality, restore energy, improve athletic performance, and reduce stress and anxiety.

Therapeutic massage is a general term used to describe any type of massage therapy that helps restore the body’s natural healing response.  It usually involves a combination of massage techniques and stretching to release muscle tension, increase blood circulation, relieve pain, and improve range of motion.

The techniques used in therapeutic massage help promote an even flow of qi thereby restoring health and can be used in conjunction with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.  The therapeutic massage modalities used at Hilton Acupuncture include deep tissue massage, neuromuscular massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and sports massage.
